Civil Service Opportunities (CSO’s)
Civil Service Opportunities (CSO’s)
Civil Service Opportunities (CSO’s) are activities that engage Pioneers in a volunteer based experience. Volunteering time and energy encourages positive social and personal growth. The value gained from participating in such activities is immeasurable. If your organization would like to be part of an Initiative, read on, and submit a brief description of your activity on your “Get Involved” form.
Here is a quick list of ideas for CSOs that TUSI seeks to provide for its Pioneers:
•Plant trees and flowers in a community park, garden or zoo grounds
•Organize and serve food at a food bank or homeless shelter
•Groom and feed animals at the MSPCA
•Read to and play games with senior citizens
•Clean and polish a statue in the city
•Beautify the most used public park in the city
Requirements
There can never be enough opportunities available to fill TUSI’s carefully planned curriculum and we will always be adding to our database, so read the requirements and get in touch with TUSI.
•The opportunity must be available to 10 Pioneers between the ages of 10 and 15 and take place during the work week.
•The volunteer activity must be a meaningful learning experience.
•The location of the CSO (opportunity/activity) must be within a 5 mile radius of your city's downtown center and reachable by a combination of public transportation and/or walking.
•Sign a “Media Release” form that pertains to dialogues, photos and videos.
Expectations
•TUSI takes place during the daytime in the summer months. You must be able to provide the CSO during normal business hours and at least once during the 8 weeks of Initiatives.
•Each Initiative has a thoroughly thought out and planned curriculum, thus you may not have your first choice of date and time and could be contacted for more than one CSO.
•The time requirement could be anywhere from 20 to 180 minutes, depending on the activity at hand.
•You must commit to the agreed upon date and time and sign a “Contract of Dedication”.
